# Cancel or reopen a job

Cancel a job that is not going ahead, or reopen a completed one when the work turns out not to be finished.

## Cancel a job

1. Open the job and select **Cancel job**.
2. Choose a reason, for example **Customer cancelled** or **Duplicate job**.
3. Confirm.

Any visits not yet done are cancelled, the engineers are told, and the customer is emailed. The job stays on record at **Cancelled**; nothing is deleted.

## Reopen a completed job

Sometimes a job marked **Complete** turns out not to be. Select **Reopen**, give a reason, and the job goes back to **Attended** so you can book another visit.

Reopening needs the right permission. If you don't see the button, ask your administrator.

## Raise a follow-on instead

If the original job was done properly and this is new work, raise a follow-on rather than reopening. Open the job's menu, choose **Raise follow-on**, then pick:

- **Remedial job** for extra work found during the visit.
- **Callback** if the customer called back about the same fault. Callbacks count against first-time fix in your reports.
