# Add maintenance plans

Set up recurring work on a contract, like a quarterly service or monthly lighting test, at a site and on its equipment.

A maintenance plan is one piece of recurring work at one site: "Quarterly AC service", "Monthly emergency lighting test", "Annual boiler service". A contract can have as many as you need, for any trade.

1. Open the contract. Under **Plans**, select **Add plan**.
2. Give it a **Plan name** and choose the **Site**.
3. Choose the **Job type** and **Priority** for the visits it creates.
4. Pick a **Form** if the engineer should fill one in, like a service checklist.
5. Tick the **Assets** it covers.
6. Set how often: **Every** 3 **months**, 1 **year**, 2 **weeks** and so on.
7. Set the **First due date**.
8. Select **Add plan**.

## The other settings

- **Generate the job (days before)**: how far ahead the job is created. 14 days by default.
- **Window before** and **Window after**: how early or late still counts as on time. 7 days either side by default.
- **Next due counts from**: the previous due date (the usual choice, so dates don't drift), or when the last visit was done.
- **Preferred engineer**: suggested when you book.
